For the past couple of weeks, Social Justice and Economics 12 classes at North Surrey have combined to study issues surrounding poverty in Canada. Developing skills in determining quality resources, choosing relevant details, unpacking the issues, determining point-of-view and detecting propaganda have been a major part of this project. Students have been surprised with what they have learned, once quality sources were examined and fully understood. “Poverty is very complicated, and its effects are far reaching,” was a common conclusion for the students.
