The year may have been horrible but the books were WONDERFUL!
And because I had so much fun with this here is a throwback to the best of 2019 too.

Welcome back Spartans! I hope you had a wonderful break! There is so much going on in the library right now. First come check out the New Year, New You Display.
As always the books can also be viewed online HERE. You can place books on hold to be picked up as well.
Don’t forget that all of these updates are over on our Instagram account @barnes.and.books
Incase you missed it here are my December Reads Wrap Ups
I also posted my January TBR over the break.
Last but certainly not least are my TOP 10 READS OF 2020.
Hopefully this month is more successful than last month. I have a feeling I will need to add a few more rom-coms to this list to help balance it out but I’m very excited to dive in.
Happy December Reading Spartans! And as always I will be updating as I work my way through the list in the Instagram page @barnes.and.books
This is a MUST read! It is for sure the best book that I have read this year and maybe the best book I have EVER read.
A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.
France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name. (Goodreads)
Don’t bother paying for audible or purchasing e-books online. They are all available through Surrey Public Libraries for FREE.
Download the LIBBY app and enter in your public library card details. If you don’t have a library card you can easily get one online: HERE
Here is a quick video that breaks it all down
Don’t forget to check out the “How to Access E-books” tab from the main menu to find out how to access e-books and audio books through the North Surrey Secondary Library… hint its through Destiny Discover.
This book has some more mature content and themes compared to the other nominees this year, however it is a FABULOUS and yet terrifying read!
When a car crash sidelines Mickey just before softball season, she has to find a way to hold on to her spot as the catcher for a team expected to make a historic tournament run. Behind the plate is the only place she’s ever felt comfortable, and the painkillers she’s been prescribed can help her get there.
The pills do more than take away pain; they make her feel good.
With a new circle of friends—fellow injured athletes, others with just time to kill—Mickey finds peaceful acceptance, and people with whom words come easily, even if it is just the pills loosening her tongue.
But as the pressure to be Mickey Catalan heightens, her need increases, and it becomes less about pain and more about want, something that could send her spiraling out of control. (Goodreads)
The North Surrey Book Club will meet next on Monday, December 15th to eat a great lunch, provided by Ms. Cameron, and discuss our current selection, the Douglas Adams classic The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
As well, we have decided to read Let It Snow, a collection of short stories by John Green among others, over the Christmas break.
Everyone is welcome to join us! Please see Ms. Cameron if you have any questions.
North Surrey Bookclub students met yesterday to discuss their first two reading selections, The Fifth Wave and What’s Left of Me. It was a great discussion, and the pumpkin pie was a much appreciated bonus! (Thank you C.)
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, November 20th, at lunch in the library lab, when we will discuss our current selection, Blue Gold by Elizabeth Stewart.
